How To Clear Space On Lenovo Laptop – Covid has been with us for almost two years. We have probably developed all possible hygiene and cleaning routines. One such routine is cleaning the computer. The keyboard in particular collects a lot of bacteria and dust. Lenovo Quick Clean comes in handy!
However, cleaning a laptop is not easy because you have to turn it off or lock the computer. Otherwise, all types of random keys are entered. Or click around the screen. First, you switch to an unused virtual desktop with no open applications. This limits the amount of random interactions. 🙂

I first saw the Lenovo Quick Clean on a review unit that I tested it on, but it wasn’t until later that I took the time to properly test it.

Lenovo Quick Clean is a tool included in (at least) 2020 and 2021 ThinkPads. I don’t know if this is available for older versions or if the tool works.

Let’s see what I did to add some extra storage space. Please note that this does not replace an existing one.
All the bottom screws are removed. The red circle is the long screw and the orange circle is the short screw.

After removing all the screws, I carefully lifted the bottom cover of the laptop and lifted it off the front edge.
The module is clearly visible, but there were no screws holding it in place. It looks like you don’t need this extra screw as it doesn’t come with the laptop.
Module below. I had screws that fit just right, but if I didn’t have them on hand I could have used electrical tape.

Last – change the virtual memory settings so that the paging file is now newer (faster)
Installed and fast disk is always used for virtual memory (I allocated 6GB virtual memory).
