Regardless of the display chosen, it stands proudly above the winery’s elegant emblem: a leaf, a crown, a California bear and the year of the winery’s founding, 1944, divided into four equal quadrants. “The crown symbolizes our great history as an original California winery and our award-winning wines,” Daniels explains. “The bear honors the California grizzly and our commitment to this great wine region. The logo represents our founding year. Finally, the grape leaf reflects our commitment to making wines of the highest quality that match its variety and style.” When combined, the icons provide a strong visual counterpoint to the individual name bearing the banner directly above.
“Chateau Sovereign is known for our modern, sleek brand that tells the story of our 74-year history,” adds Daniels. “Our custom label program allows customers to add their personal touch to a package they already love.”

It’s true that Chateau Souverine’s award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon has long been recognized as Northern California’s most affordable varietal. Generally, the most common wine label designs are found on wines from wine growing regions. These include Bordeaux and Burgundy, France; Piedmont, Italy; Rioja, Spain; and Napa, California. Expect wines from these regions to use traditional winemaking techniques, including blending and aging in oak.
This type of etiquette is often found in wineries that value drinking with friends as much as wine. These light brands can be found everywhere from Beaujolais and the south of France to Australia. The label is often found on wines that have a pleasant taste and are easy to drink. This is a good choice for an inexpensive wine.
Spain and Australia lead the way with some of the world’s most exciting contemporary wine brands. Modern labels indicate that the wine within is a step away from tradition, perhaps a unique variety like Mourvèdre or a unique style like Vin Gris.

You can measure the size of the label by cutting a piece of paper and placing it on the wine of your choice to see if it will work. For “feminine” wine bottles, go 4.25 × 3.25 inches or larger; for “male” wine bottles, go 3 × 5 inches or larger.
