I’m happy to say that our outdoor fall decorating isn’t just about the entryway this year. Our exterior isn’t finished yet (we still haven’t done the front trim), but our driveway and front yard have improved quite a bit this summer. Little by little we get to where we want to be outside. The walkways were installed earlier this summer, built in two steps changing the slope from the front door to the street. Here’s a reminder of what it looks like:
One weekend we covered the rocks, dug up the grassy area on the right, filled it with hostas and planted a tree. We will be landscaping next spring (hosts are only a temporary solution), but at least it feels consistent.
Budget Friendly Fall Front Porch Decor
Last week we completed another upgrade. We repainted the stripped and bare porch with granite balustrades and put a coat on the concrete surface.
I’m very happy with how it turned out, although I wish there was more use and distribution of “sand” in the packaging. Our porch was pretty rough (the previous owner painted it semi-gloss!) and dangerous in the winter, but now it’s structurally sound. I’m sure our postman will thank us! Fall Mountain Alfalfa granite countertops also add warmth and blend well with the red brick in the house and the brown pavers in the driveway.
We still have a landscape master plan to do – the area in the lower right of the front window definitely needs a rework – but we’re happy with the progress we’ve made over the past year. Our exterior improvements over the past three years include:
Now it’s nice to have a painted entryway that complements the rest of the decor. This outdoor space is designed to keep things plain and simple. There are many great ideas and creative ways to decorate front porches. I focus on fall flowers, textures and a bright color scheme to celebrate the fall season in my home.
Diy Fall Front Porch Decor Ideas
Aside from the fresh pumpkins and fall mums, everything here was stuff I had on hand. I love seeing bright orange pumpkins on the porch – but in these hard times when so many have lost their jobs and are on tight budgets, that seems a bit pointless. I have become more conscious of what I use and what I add to the landfill, resulting in minimalist decorating. I think buying pumpkins helps local farmers strike a balance!
What is your preference for decoration? Do you like a neutral fall porch? Or do you want a farmhouse-style front porch? Consider vegetable baskets, hay bales and apple baskets. A little stop to enjoy a pumpkin spice latte.
For me, there are two important elements of design
