Home Office And Guest Room Design Ideas – In this post, I’m going to share with you the guest room in my new home office. This room is the perfect arrangement of two work areas and a sofa bed for guests.
We recently welcomed another little love into our family. To accommodate another nursery, we had to do a little remodeling in our bedroom setup. We have a four bedroom house. First floor, senior living room, home office and guest room.

In addition to daycare, we needed a dedicated home office because my husband and I work from home. my current home office (

The only problem is that we need a guest room and maybe even a gym. So this time, we felt like we ran out of rooms.
We have one bedroom left to sort it all out. Here are some things we kept in mind when making our stand. You can also consider these;
The first thing we asked ourselves was, do we really need a guest room? Is this place right for our family’s needs?

The first thing to consider is how often you will be hosting guests. Do you have guests at your home several times a month? In this case, you may need a separate bedroom just for guests.
In our case, we are often guests. Maybe a few times a year if we get out of town and hang out with someone. Therefore, we did not want to completely remove the guest space.
We realized that instead of devoting the entire bedroom to guests only, we would rather create a room that would serve multiple purposes.
You can buy all guest room design products at the post office.
Guest Room/my Office Turned Nursery
Now we’ve determined that a guest room works best when it serves multiple purposes. We need to figure out how to combine the home office and the guest room.
If you have enough space, you can outfit an entire bedroom and a nice office. Our space was too small to handle both tasks full time.
We decided that the best option for this is to use a sofa bed. This allowed us to have a nice table layout, lots of floor space and sofas. When we have the occasional guest, we can make a full size bed out of the living room and still have enough room to walk around.
We used the Godwin 69 Square Arm Sleeper for its modern look and compact size. The seat itself is very comfortable. Our guests had no complaints about the comfort of the bed. We added a nice mattress for extra comfort.

After deciding on the office guest room, we need to decide how we can both fit in an office.
There are a few different ways to create a table for two; An L-shaped desk, a single tall desk with two workstations, two desks on opposite walls or two separate desks facing each other.
Since our space needed to be furnished with a pull-out sofa bed, we decided to use an L-shaped table.

Thanks to this, we each had a work space. The table was across the room, so I left enough room on the couch for you to get out.
When we decided on the L-shaped table, we decided we wanted to build it ourselves instead of hiring a builder. I am sharing all the details of setting up our tables in another post. You can find the link below.

I mentioned earlier in this post that not only did we want a home office for two and room for the occasional guest, but we also wanted a gym.
Making A Home Office That Works For You
Due to our configuration, we were able to accommodate the oval corner. Because we use a sofa bed instead of a traditional bed, we have more floor space for exercise.
I am very happy with how this situation turned out. We were able to take our room and really carry out its purpose. Now, it’s a multitasking space that’s thoughtfully designed to handle all the tasks we’d expect.

Not everyone has a big house, and if you are faced with the problem of lack of space, combining spaces is a great idea to solve it. We’ve already featured how to add a home office to your bedroom, living room, and kitchen, and today we’re going to share another popular combination: a guest room with a home office.
There are two ways to do this: smooth transitions without dividing the space or visually separate the two areas with design, furniture or colors. You can go for a sleeping area with a comfortable bed or, if there is a serious lack of space, choose a sofa that can be converted into a bed when needed. Let’s see all the examples.

If you have enough space in the guest bedroom, treat your guests to a real bed and visually divide the work and sleeping areas. Choose a table in a different shade and place it next to a window or wall away from the bed. Another good idea to divide these areas is to make a loft bed and place it under the table. If you can’t spend a lot of space on a workspace, go for a window that doesn’t work on a regular desktop.

A simple guest bedroom with a bed and window table is flawless.
If the guest bedroom is too small, the bed should be replaced with a convertible chair, which does not take up much space but at the same time offers enough space for sleeping. For the table, it can be a window or even a built-in window with shelves. If the room is small, there is no need to separate the spaces, and there are many combinations that allow the bed and the table to be placed very close to each other, and the table can be used as a bedside table.
