RELATED: Home Office Design Ideas for an Effective Printing Station So… Exciting news – Hopefully sometime in the near future, I will have office space for both his blog and my interior design consulting business!! Everything is still a work in progress, but of course it got me thinking (A LOT) about how to decorate this front desk…it’s going to be small (about 10’x12′) so I know you’ll need to be space efficient and really improve your performance. In my search for inspiration, I thought it would be fun to share 10 of my favorite small office design ideas with you. These 10 desks are highly functional and each has a specific design feature that makes them efficient. I hope that those of you who have small office spaces, whether at home or at work, will be inspired by the design of these rooms and have some ideas on how to make the office space more attractive. Enjoy friends! 10 Small Office Design Ideas 1: Pocket Door Image via Country Living Using a pocket door allows you to furnish a room without worrying about where the door will open. In a small space, this is valuable real estate! Try placing a pocket door inside a traditional door to save space and for extra style, paint it bright! RELATED: 26 MUST HAVE SMALL HOME OFFICES! IDEAL 2: Books Behind Desk Houzz Photo If you want a double-sided table for meetings or socializing, adding books to the wall behind the desk will add even more needed storage. Try painting the walls a dark color to make the room cozier, then use fun patterned wallpaper on the back of the bookcases to help them stand out! RELATED: HOW TO MAKE A SMALL ROOM BIGGER 3: L-Shaped WORKSHOP Image by Pink Little Notebook Another option for creating a double-sided desk for meetings is to install an L-shaped desk. This allows you to have two workspaces – one for desk work and one for meetings. If your room allows it, this is a great deal! Try shelving above one wall for extra storage. IDEA 4: Hidden Storage Image of Gusu Living If your small office is also part of another room in the house (ie bedroom or kitchen), then hidden storage would be the best option to create a functional space that is still beautiful. IN. Try putting your printer or files in a traditional cabinet for something stylish and productive! IDEA 5: WALL PACKAGE Image via Camera Link I love this cork wall idea! Chalkboard walls are a big trend right now, but I’ve always struggled with the “mess” of chalk. This cork board is a great board because it can replace both a blackboard or chalkboard (with the notes pinned to the top) as well as an inspiration board. Don’t have a wall small enough to use or not a fan of that cork board? Try just making the top half of your wall out of cork board, then put some planks and wall boards underneath! IDEA 6: Files Above the Desk Photo by Amy Peltier I’m a big fan of paper files and I love this idea of a storage cabinet to add a series of file holders above your desk! It makes the files you’re currently using easily accessible, and it’s pretty cool too. It’s the perfect way to have a table in a tight space where you don’t want one person sitting all the time. The stand shown above actually folds into the wall when not in use and looks like a blackboard hanging on the wall! IDEA 8: NOOK OFFICE image of kitchen counters for the home is always trendy, but I love the way it sits in this little corner. Many homes have small spaces like these that go unused or simply display unnecessary furniture. Why not turn it into an office? IDEA 9: WALL STORAGE All girl photos I’ve always loved those IKEA wooden cars, so when I saw this idea to use it as a desk shelf, I was really excited. ! Not only is it beautiful, but it also has wheels so you can easily move it around as needed in your space! SERIES: 15 Simple Time Management Tricks! IDEA 10: Floating Table Chic Sprinkles Photo You’ll be surprised how much more space you feel when the sofa is higher than the floor! I love that this floating table has no body, but the room is spacious and airy. Try placing shelves that are the same color as the walls for a natural look. So what do you think? Or maybe a storage bench where you can store unread books to make it look more professional? BocaExecuSpace October 16, 2022 at 11:09 pm I love this design! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I hope to start private practice with students in my home in the very near future. Right now, my “office” is on the landing at the top of the stairs, where we still read books at night with the kids and the only way to get to the bedroom. I struggle to define my space while keeping my family space intact. No idea? Rachel Joy September 14, 2022 at 6:29 am Sharing on FB is always appreciated. 🙂 Thank you!
