Make Your Own Fire Pit In 4 Easy Steps!
Before building a fire pit in your backyard, there are several things to consider. The first is whether there are buried cables in the area that you should be careful when digging.

And the third is if your fireplace will have a negative impact on a neighbor (sensitivity to smoke, etc.). Think about all these before you start to ensure a pleasant experience in the fire!
Once you have these things, the first step in all of this is to clear the area where you are ditching. As you can see from this picture, we have a lot of plants to clean (which, by the way, are difficult to remove from giant hosts).

After removing the vegetation, we started raking the area and getting the ground level. The children participated in this part of the project, it was fun!
We used our level to make sure the ground was as level and even as we could, and then we landscaped the grass around our fire pit to prevent vegetation.
Next, we marked where we wanted the fireplace and used the chalk to make a circle several centimeters wide with a galvanized fire ring. So we cut this circle from the landscape barrier.
You may be wondering why we used a galvanized fire ring in our fire pit construction when many other fire pit tutorials do not. The main reason for this is that we want our fire pit to be more durable and protect the landscape bricks from being burned by the fire.

Another benefit of using a fire ring is that you can buy accessories such as grill grates and fire screens that fit the fire ring perfectly.
Finally, we also found that it made it easier to create a perfect circle with landscape bricks. While this adds a little extra cost to the build, it’s worth it in our minds.
The next step is to fill the circle with the paving base. After it was poured, my husband worked with a chisel and hammer to get a level surface that was slightly below the surrounding soil.
Next, we poured paving sand around the perimeter – this is how the galvanized fire ring and landscape bricks will sit. We also used tamping to flatten this paving sand.

Then we placed the galvanized fire ring in the paving sand, using a mallet to lightly press the paving sand, the paving base and the soil, and we placed our first row of landscape bricks around the ring of fire.
NOTE: It is important to leave about 2.5″ of space between the fire ring and the landscape bricks because if you put the landscape bricks against the ring, when you get to the top row of fire bricks the landscape, they will be many. close to each other. . A ring of fire and your base is further than a row of bricks. You have to disassemble the machine and restart it.
Before gluing our bricks, we put four rows to see how it works, and it doesn’t! How do we know where to place the space between the fire ring and the landscaping bricks below?
After installing the first row of landscape bricks, it’s time to move on to the next row. We used DAP DynaGrip adhesive to hold our bricks together. We applied it to the rocks and pressed them down, making sure they were staggered rather than stacked straight on top of each other.

We added cheap pea gravel to the inside of the fire pit and our backyard fire pit was complete!
This project took about 8 hours to complete and included removing all of the existing landscaping and making a few trips to Home Depot for additional supplies.
At the end of the day, I can honestly say, if you’ve ever thought about adding a fire pit to your backyard, you should go for it! It brings a great element of fun to your outdoor space and is a wonderful memory maker for your family and friends.
